About
“6-7” traces back to “Doot Doot (6 7)”, a song by the rapper Skrilla. Videos set to it spread on social media, and the numerals began to be said by NBA and NFL players, and in school classrooms, often with an alternating palms-up gesture. Its meaning was deliberately unclear: it was an inside joke and a refrain.
In October 2025 Dictionary.com named “67” its word of the year, describing it as a form of brainrot: mindless, extremely online content. The choice was itself a meme, a rare case of a dictionary giving the stamp of approval to a numeral.
